My Therapeutic Approach
I am committed to helping individuals and couples explore their thoughts and emotions, developing new skills and empowering them to overcome life's challenges. Drawing on an attachment approach, I support clients in exploring past experiences, attachments, and the impact on current relationships and functioning. The goal being to inform positive change and build a more solid foundation for on-going personal growth and development beyond the therapeutic relationship.
What does that actually mean? We will explore how your early experiences shaped your view of the world, yourself, how you view and interact with others, and how you respond to adversity. We will work together to gain better insight, improve your ability to see the moving pieces in the moment, and address historical "cracks in your foundation" to approach people and situations differently. We will identify your core beliefs and how they shape how you approach relationships, replacing those that inhibit you with more empowering thoughts and feelings. This will not only improve how you function day-to-day but will help you thrive, improve your overall quality of life, and help you to live your life the way you want to.
My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and collaboration, drawing on humor and direct communication for a more "human" approach. I find this balance is the best way to foster a strong therapeutic relationship as we navigate the challenges you are facing. Through a combination of evidence-based therapies and personalized techniques you will gain a deeper understanding of yourself and develop effective coping strategies both in session and on your own.
Diversity
Whether you are coming to therapy as an individual or as a couple, know that your culture, background, and unique experiences will be held with respect and reverence. I believe in multicultural respect and inclusion and emphasize the importance of acceptance in my personal and professional life. I welcome individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds including those who are LGBTQIA+ and those with visible and invisible disabilities.
